UI/UX Engineer

About the Role

YellowDog is hiring a UI/UX engineer, working to further develop the web based user portal for our award winning multi-cloud workload management platform.

This is about delivering sophisticated new product features for release to our state-of-the-art software service, to help customers optimally schedule, deploy and manage their cloud compute.

We can help you get to grips with our technology, the domain and its ecosystems. Your work will have a positive resource-saving impact for our customers, currently across the life sciences, aerospace, financial services, media and entertainment sectors.

We’re a small and expanding software development team building a unique orchestration and management solution. It’s a microservice-based architecture, where you may contribute substantial new code and ideas around the dashboard and user interfaces.

It’s a fairly flat team structure and we employ an iterative, lightweight design process where everyone on the team gets to give their input. We’re Agile and manage our work using a gentle Kanban process, with regular stand-ups and a productive approach to development.

Responsibilities

• Building and designing user interface components that enable our users to manage cloud infrastructure and workloads at huge scale and supports them in global compute coordination, resource scheduling, data management, adaptive data transfer, analytics, billing, access control etc.
• Common abstraction to different cloud providers, optimised to best practice for each cloud provider.
• Integration with a rich ecosystem of tools and adjacent systems.
• Ensuring security and manageability of all software you develop.

Technical Requirements:

We’re looking for:

• Someone ready to build upon formative skills accrued in industry, now exploring new challenges.
• Understanding or appreciation of cloud infrastructure concepts, instances, storage, networks, etc. You won’t be managing these elements but you will be building interfaces to enable users to do so via our services.
• Highly proficient with the JavaScript language and its modern ES6+ syntax and features
• Good understanding of HTML5 and CSS3, including SASS
• Ability to write efficient, secure, well-documented, and clean JavaScript code
• Familiarity with automated JavaScript testing ( we use Cypress.io )
• Proficiency with modern development tools, like Vite, Git, and CI.
• Experience in consuming RESTful APIs and developing data-driven interfaces.
• Familiarity with the Vue.js framework & ecosystem, including Vue CLI, Vuex, Vue Router
• Good eye for UI design and understanding of web application usability/user experience.
• Interest in data visualisation frameworks ( D3.js )
• Appreciation of knowledge sharing.
• An individual who is adaptable, receptive to change and pragmatic.
