Keeping an eye on the Cloud

We have seen a huge shift in how studios are using the Cloud since we launched our Cloud render platform in 2015. One presentation that we are interested by is ‘Visual Effects in the age of Cloud’. Our good friends at Redshift, with whom we have done some pretty cool work with across visual effects and animation are set to be on the panel.

Title Visual Effects in the age of Cloud.

Description The panel will discuss cloud computing in visual effects, how it is trending, and how it changes production.

Venue East Building, Ballroom BC, Vancouver Convention Centre.

Time Wednesday, 15 August 3:45pm – 5:15pm.

Birds of a Feather

On Tuesday 14th August, the Birds of Feather Sessions are serving up more render discussions.

There are too many awesome pipleine and creative discussions to single out just one.

But….we are looking forward to the Sys Admins meetup; we spend a lot of our time working with the technical experts across the industry to integrate and scale their render farm capability. These heroes are the backstage hands that need a standing ovation and well earned drink. Details Below:

Title StudioSysAdmins 10 Year Anniversary Studio Mingle.

Description Join the StudioSysAdmins reception to celebrate 10 years of bringing people together to help efficiently solve studio infrastructure/support issues.

Venue Cypress Suite, Pan Pacific Hotel.

Time Tuesday, 14 August 7pm – 10pm.

YellowDog at SIGGRAPH

YellowDog’s Head of Sales for rendering, Vikki Hamilton, heads up our SIGGRAPH team this year.

Vikki is a SIGGRAPH regular having attended for Solid Angle, Foundry, and Autodesk during her 20-year career in the VFX industry.

We’re particularly looking forward to Ari Rubenstein presenting V-Ray for Nuke on the Foundry stand. Ari has made his short film “The Blues Crab” entirely with V-Ray for Nuke with YellowDog’s Cloud render platform. 100,000 beautiful cinematic frames have been keeping our render nodes busy this summer! Vikki will be at the stand and staying for a drink after the presentation if you’d like to chat. Details Below:
